    Education

    • The main purpose of teachers in the United Kingdom is to educate students. Education goes beyond arithmetic, languages and sports, and extends even to life lessons. Teachers must meet certain curriculum expectations, but can also teach students about the world, within limits. There are certain things students should not learn from teachers as well. Teachers need to encourage students and show them the importance of book and street smarts.

    Supply Teacher

    • Supply teachers are teachers who fill in for regular teachers when they are sick or need to go out of town. These teachers are expected to have good work ethics and show up on time. They must have good teaching skills and lead by example. Supply teachers should also have a flexible schedule because they can be needed at any time.

    Role Models

    • Teachers are expected to be positive role models by the code written by the "General Teaching Council for England." This means teachers are expected to be responsible in and outside of the classroom. They should not be drunk and violent in public or participate in inappropriate behavior. Those who do not comply, even outside of the classroom, can have their licenses revoked and banned from teaching. Teachers are trained by the Professional Standards of Teachers when earning their Qualified Teachers Status at university.

    Male Teachers

    • Male teachers are in high demand so all children have a positive male role model in their lives. It is most important for boys to see that teachers can be male or female and to give society an open mind toward all career choices.

    Qualifications

    • Those interested in earning a Qualified Teachers Status must meet certain requirements before entering the program. He or she must be professional, understand the importance of communication and how to communicate with children of all ages. They must also understand the assessment of education and what they must teach in the classroom.

    Domestic Abuse

    • The Guardian reports that teachers in the United Kingdom should help teach children what domestic abuse is. Teachers should teach children what a healthy relationship is --both romantic and friendships. They should also teach children how to treat other people and the importance of not bullying people.
