Sesame Street Birthday Ideas
- To set the tone for the party, decorate the tables with a "Sesame Street" theme. Use a different solid primary color tablecloth for each table, then place matching color disposable plates, napkins and utensils on the table. In the center, place a matching color balloon with the child's name on it and borrow from the "Sesame Street" song "C Is for Cookie," using "T Is for Tommy," for example.
- Serve food inspired by the show. Earthland's Best makes organic "Sesame Street"-branded food items, including Elmo cookies, Big Bird cereal, Grover granola bars and macaroni and cheese with Elmo. Also, you can serve Elmo's favorite foods--pizza and chicken nuggets--or chocolate-chip cookies in honor of Cookie Monster. There also are "Sesame Street" juice boxes at grocery stores that would be appropriately themed beverages.
- One game is to pass a Tickle Me Elmo doll the same way you would play musical chairs. Pass the laughing, shaking doll around from child to child until it stops. Once it stops, the child holding the Elmo doll is out. Another game is an Oscar the Grouch game. Take an aluminum garbage can and make a large Oscar face out of cardboard and poster paints. Tape the face to the back of the can and have the children throw plastic balls into the can. The child with the most balls in the can wins a small prize.
