How to Remove Streaks on Stainless Steel Appliances
- 1). Begin by wetting a clean, soft cloth or towel and add mild dish detergent to it. Wipe the stainless steel appliance's surface, paying extra care to doors or handles--areas where there are typically more streaks and finger prints. Make sure to open doors on refrigerators so you do not miss any spots. Always clean in the direction of the grain.
- 2). Thoroughly dry off the appliance off with a clean, soft cloth. If smudge marks and streaks are still visible, try buffing out the streak with a lint free cloth or towel. Don't rub too hard or you could scratch the surface.
- 3). Dab a small amount of white vinegar on a cloth and rub the affected area if the streak is stubborn and still persists. This should remove the streak and bring back the shine. Follow up by wiping the appliance with a soft cloth.
- 4). Regularly clean your stainless steel appliances as specified in the steps above. This will help prevent streaks and smudges from appearing.
- 5). Routinely hand polish stainless steel appliances after cleaning with a product specifically designed for these. Use a soft cloth and apply the polish evenly over the surface.
