How to Do a Loop Pinned Side Bun?
- 1). Brush or comb hair to remove any tangles. Hair should be clean, but choosing to wash it right before creating the bun is optional.
- 2). Part hair either in the center or on the side using the tip of a comb. Choose the side opposite the side where the bun will be. So for a left side bun, make a part on the right side. Brush hair smooth on each side of the part, and tuck hair behind your ears. Leave bangs or short layers out on the sides of your head.
- 3). Add some shine serum or mousse to hair to add shine and texture.
- 4). Use your fingers to gather hair into a low side ponytail. You can secure it with an elastic for better hold, or with a few bobby pins.
- 5). Create the side bun from the ponytail in one of two different ways. Either one of these buns can be behind your ear or over it on the side of your face.
- 6). Twist hair and wrap it around the elastic, or the base of the ponytail, for the first option. Create one or more loops, depending on the length of your hair. Keep on wrapping hair, creating a bun until you reach the ends.
- 7). Fold hair vertically to create a loop in the second method. Fold medium length hair halfway, and fold longer hair about a third of the way from the base of the ponytail to the ends. Wrap the loose ends around the base of the ponytail.
- 8). Secure the ends with bobby pins. Use many bobby pins for a smooth look free of flyaway tresses, but for a messy look, you can leave some strands hanging out loose. Use as many bobby pins as you need to hold up the bun and to keep it from coming loose.
- 9). Complete the look with a spritz of hairspray or another styling product such as spray gel for extra hold. You can add an accessory such as a flower or clip to the bun.
