Fabric Halloween Skulls
- 1). Draw a pattern of a skull silhouette on a piece of thick paper. If you're creating a human skull, include the bone's rounded top, curved cheek bones and rectangular jaw. For other skulls, such as a bull's skull, including long horns coming from each side. When the outline of the skull is finished, draw two large eyes in the appropriate place. Expand the drawing by 1/2 inch all around to account for the seam. Cut out the paper, including the two eye holes. This will be the pattern for your fabric skull.
- 2). Select a fabric of your choice. Cut it into two pieces and stack them on top of each other with the design sides facing inward. Pin them in place.
- 3). Trace the skull pattern on the fabric using chalk. Cut out the pattern, snipping through both fabrics at the same time. Cut out the eye holes, as well.
- 4). Sew along the perimeter of the skull fabrics either by hand or with a sewing machine. Stitch around the eye sockets. Leave an inch or two open in the perimeter of the skull for stuffing. Remove the pins. Turn the fabric right-side out.
- 5). Stuff your fabric skull with fiberfill. Use the end of a pencil or wooden spoon to push the stuffing into hard-to-reach places. When the skull is plush, sew the open section of the fabric closed to complete the project.
