Natural Steam

• Sometimes the dirt sticks to the shower floor in the small cracks and crevices. While the dirt may seem permanently stuck, you can loosen it from the floor to make it easier to remove. Turn the shower on to the hottest water setting, close the shower doors or curtain and allow the shower to run for five minutes. The steam from the hot water helps to loosen the dirt on the shower flower. Turn the shower off, and begin cleaning the dirt from the shower floor while it remains loose.
  
  

Homemade Cleaning Solution

• Discolored areas on the shower floor are indicative of mold or mildew. Soap scum leaves behind a white film that often forms because of bar soaps. Remove mold, mildew or soap scum from the shower floor with items you have in your home. Combine 1/2 cup of white vinegar, 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of ammonia with 1 gallon of water. Scrub the solution with a nonabrasive sponge, and allow it to sit for 10 to 15 minutes before you wipe it off.
  
  

Baking Soda and Vinegar

• Baking soda acts as a natural abrasive, and the acid in vinegar sanitizes. Combining baking soda and vinegar creates a reaction that helps remove hard water stains and soap scum to clean a dirty shower floor. Cover the shower floor with baking soda, and saturate a washcloth or sponge in white vinegar. Scrub on the shower floor to remove the stubborn dirt or hard water stains. You'll want to rinse the shower floor well to remove the cleaning solution.
  
  

Cream of Tartar and Hydrogen Peroxide

• Tough shower stains can become difficult to remove, and porcelain shower floors scratch easily. Since you cannot use abrasives, the stains need to be removed carefully. Combine an equal amount of cream of tartar and hydrogen peroxide, and apply the mixture to the stain. After allowing the mixture to sit for 30 minutes, scrub on the area with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Rinse the shower floor well, and repeat the treatment until you remove the dirt stains.
  
  

Tips

• Keep the shower curtain or doors open after taking a shower or while the floor remains wet to prevent mold or mildew from forming. Wipe the floor and walls with a towel after each shower to remove excess moisture. Spraying the shower down with an equal mixture of white vinegar and water helps to keep the shower sanitary. If you keep the bathroom ventilated by turning on a ventilation fan or opening a window, it will help to reduce the humidity and prevent mold from growing.
