2013 Cat Picture of the Week: Tiger

Pauline recently sent me an email about her Tiger because she wanted others to be aware of the importance of treating the herpes virus in cats immediately. She related Tiger's story in detail and I asked her to post his story to the Special Needs Cats Show and Tell so others could learn what could happen.

I hadn't seen Tiger's photo when Pauline emailed, but as soon as I saw it in the Special Needs Cats section, I knew he deserved to have a place in the Cat Pictures of the Week for April. Tiger was rescued from the streets when he was eight months old and now is seven years.

Pauline writes that he is a jewel and has added much love to her home. He has had the herpes virus (feline viral rhinotracheitis) several years, off and on.

Herpes virus is never completely cured, and may resurface months or years later. Fortunately, there is a vaccination for it: Rhinotracheitis, which is part of the three-way core vaccine. You can read more of Tiger's story in the Special Needs Show and Tell.
