Here's why I think this line works [and gets people open the email]: Like in any niche or industry it seems there's a "secret" group that makes the most money, while the rest are struggling from paycheck to paycheck.

I think most people are kind of tired to hear how to do something, and they'd rather want to know first why they need to do it.
Motivation is what drives humans move forward and never give up.
As Robert Kiyosaki in his book - "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" - mentioned, "You can always quit, but why do it now?" When you combine reason "why" with curiosity, your subject line is guaranteed to get open, if you hit the right prospect, at the right time, with the right benefit! No matter how good a subject line may sound, if it reaches the wrong recipient, it duds, whether you believe it or not! Just give a try, do a split test, send the right subject line to the wrong recipient VS the right line to the right recipient, and split test the opens.
Here's something to remember for as long as you're in business: never use tricks in your email marketing.
It works for short time, but in the end it'll damage your reputation and wash you out of business.
As a Czech proverb says - "A lie has short legs".
It's better to be honest and genuine in marketing your business, online and offline.
And email is one of the most "intimate" way to build trust with your prospects.
