Oregon Ducks Preferred in Pac-10 NCAA Football Betting

For the first time in the last 8 years, USC isn't the NCAA football wagering favorite in the Pac-10.

That respect goes toward Oregon for the 2010 season. USC is picked for 2nd by those that bet on NCAA football while the Ducks are a slight favorite to win the Pac-10.

NCAA football wagering on the Pac-10 will be quite competitive this season and it might be that the victor finishes with 2 conference losses. Since the poll has picked the ultimate victor in 9 of the last 10 seasons, and the Pac-10 media poll picked Oregon over USC, that will be good news for the Ducks. That stat is actually overblown however since USC has owned this conference for more than a decade. That dominance seems to be over now though and Oregon is the team that might take edge.

The Pac-10 appears to be quite wide open at the internet sportsbook in 2010 as 7 teams in the media poll received a minimum of 1 first place vote. Oregon got fifteen first place votes and they were followed by USC with 12. Oregon have 314 total points, just 3 ahead of USC who got 311. Oregon State received 3 first place votes and was picked for third. Stanford and Arizona rounded out the top five. Washington was picked for sixth and they were followed by California, UCLA, Arizona State and also Washington State. Just the Sun Devils and the Cougars were given no opportunity to win the Pac-10 this season.

For those that wager on NCAA football, Oregon State might be the wild card in the conference. Despite the fact that they're replacing their starting quarterback, they're picked for third. Head coach Mike Riley believes that the offense will be quite good with Ryan Katz heading the team.

USC may have the top quarterback in the conference in Matt Barkley but their depth will be tested this season and for years to come. This season the Trojans include 71 scholarship participants and that number is going to go down in future seasons due to NCAA sanctions. The Trojans won't be in a bowl game this season and it is unclear if they will be credited with the Pac-10 title if they finish at the top of the rankings.
