During his Hall of Fame career that began with his recording debut in 1967, Al Green has released over 30 albums, including one platinum album and four gold albums. Beginning with Let's Stay Together in 1972, he reached number one on the Billboard RandB chart with six consecutive albums. He's achieved eight number one singles, with six number hits from from 1972-1975. 40 years later, on January 19, 2012, President Barack Obama added his Presidential touch to a Green's classic by singing the opening line of "Let's Stay Together" at a fundraiser at The Apollo Theater in New York City following Green's performance.

Green's duet partners have included John Legend, Annie Lennox of the Eurythmics, Shirley Caesar, and Anthony Hamilton.

The title song of Al Green's 1972 album, Let's Stay Together, remained at the top of the Billboard RandB chart for nine weeks and also hit number one on the Hot 100. Billboard ranked it the number one RandB song of 1972, and it was selected by the Library of Congress for entry into the National Recording Registry.


2. 1972- "I'm Still In Love With You"


The title song of Al Green's 1971 album, I'm Still In Love with You, remained at number one on the Billboard RandB chart for two weeks. it also peaked at number three on the Hot 100. It was certified platinum for sales sold over one million copies.


3. 1972 - "You Ought To Be With Me"


From his 1973 Call Me album, Al Green stayed at the top of the Billboard RandB chart for two weeks with his single, "You Ought To Be With Me." It was certified gold and also reached number three on the Hot 100.


4. 1972 - "Look What You've Done For Me"


"Look What You've Done for Me" from Al Green's 1972 I'm Still In Love With You album was his third consecutive gold single. it reached number two on the Billboard RandB chart and number four on the Hot 100.


5. 1972 - "Love and Happiness"


Although it was not a major hit on the Billboard charts, "Love and Happiness" from the 1972 I'm Still In Love With You is one of Al Green's classic songs. It was released a a single in the United Kingdom in 1973, but was not released in the United States until 1977.

The title song of Al Green's 1973 album Call Me was certified gold, reaching number two on the Billboard RandB chart and number ten on the Hot 100.

9. 1974 - "Tired Of Being Alone"


In 1971, "Tired Of Being Alone" became Al Green's first gold single. It was ranked Billboard's number 12 song of the year.


10. 1975 - "L-O-V-E (Love)"


In 1975, "L-O-V-E (Love)" became Al Green's fifth number one song on the Billboard RandB chart and remained on top for two weeks, It was recorded for the Al Green In Love album and reached number thirteen on the Hot 100.
