Though your home may be comfortable and safe for you, it may be a dangerous place for your beloved feline.
The biggest suggestion is to take some time to look around your house for those things that may be hazardous to your cat.
Just do a quick walk-through some Saturday to eliminate possible threats.
If at possible, keep your cat inside.
Though some cats can do well outdoors, most are indoor only cats and outdoor living can be dangerous for them.
Just as important, provide your cat with safe toys.
Be cautious of low-quality toys as they can actually become a threat to them.
Take time to recognize your cat's surroundings and eliminate dangling cords, etc.
that they may get caught up in.
In all cases, put away anything that is not permanently in the open for your cat to investigate.
Put away wires, rubber-bands, and especially anything with electrical cords.
Another common household item are plants.
Though they can certainly liven up your place, they could be dangerous to your cat.
Such plants include philodendron, mistletoe, poinsettia, lilies, azaleas, daffodils, tomatoes and hydrangeas.
It can be difficult sometimes, but try keeping your kitchen countertops and other areas free and clean.
Keep all toilets closed, washer and dryer doors closed, or at least laundry rooms closed to the cat.
Other hazards may include paper clips, sewing needles and other supplies, erasers, staples, and all other office supplies.
Twisty ties, coins, anything loose.
Also, keep household liquids, chemicals, poisons locked up or at least, in kid-safe cabinets.
