Website Traffic Tells You!

"Not mine!," came the response from the student.
There was no story to tell at all she said.
After all, the only people who visited her website were the people she already knew or the ones who discovered her site and found out it existed by accident she insisted.
But what does that tell you? Let's look a little closer.
Login to your website's traffic logs and let's see the tale of the tape where your website statistics are measured.
Look just a bit deeper and you'll see you also have your referring sites that sent you the traffic there too.
You also have the dates your visitors came to your site, how long each visitor stayed, how many pages they visited and where they went next.
"Oh, I see now!," her eyes seemed to light up with the excitement one has when seeing a new wonder of the world reveal itself when before it only seemed hidden a mystery never to be discovered but by those figures larger than life we sometimes read about or see biographies of on television or in the movies.
But not this time.
This time it is happening for her.
It's like she is the only one awake on earth while the whole world is sleeping.
This time the story being told is the story of what her traffic tells her.
Now she knows what had worked in the past.
She knows where her traffic was coming from.
She begins to see what those who had "discovered her site by accident" had in common and thinks of new ideas and ways to make sure more people who share these interests are able to discover her website too! Which product are they likely to buy first? You see, we may take it for granted, but if you'll look at your website traffic logs today, your website traffic is telling you a story too.
The best part about your own traffic story, unlike most stories, is if you don't like the way it's started out, you can become the author of the next chapter by repeating more of what you see has worked and dropping all that has drained you of your energy and focus from doing more of what works! Then, month by month, you can strive to improve the quality and the volume of your website traffic and see the entire website traffic story unfold before your eyes! Just remember to keep working on it and improve your traffic story until you see the stats that lead to, "And you live happily ever after!"
