The food for the baby shower will likely be the most time-consuming and expensive item on your list.
If you're pressed for time or simply want to make it easier on yourself, there are ways to create simple baby shower menus that make this part of the planning easier.
Premade Items Premade items will be easier to prepare than anything that you make from scratch.
If you're hosting an evening shower and need appetizers, check the frozen foods section for premade appetizers that you can just heat and serve.
A trip to the bakery area can give you sweet breads or rolls that you can just put on a nice tray to serve.
The deli is a good option for salads.
Put the food on nice platters, toss the cartons, and your guest won't even know that it's not homemade.
Party Trays Whether you make your own or grab a couple from the store, party trays are simple to add to baby shower menus.
Good old standbys like cheese and crackers, vegetables, and fruit are always good options.
A variety of quick breads or muffins adds a nice bread option and work well for morning or early afternoon showers.
If you are hosting a shower with appetizers, try a seafood tray with cocktail shrimp.
A variety of chips and dips are also a nice choice that you can do fairly inexpensively.
You may want to stay away from deli meats and sushi since the mom-to-be is typically supposed to stay away from those foods while pregnant.
If you do have these, be sure to have alternate options for the mom-to-be.
Hire a Caterer or Eat Out The easiest baby shower menus are those that you don't have to prepare at all.
If it is in your budget to hire a caterer to take care of the food or to go to a restaurant, that will make the food part of the shower less stressful for you.
Keep in mind that you will still need to pick out menu items for the shower so have some ideas in mind before meeting with the caterer or restaurant.
If there is a theme for the shower, let the caterer or restaurant know so they can make suggestions for what would go well with the theme.
If you have the caterer serve the guests, you will also need to plan for gratuity.
You will certainly need to plan for this if you are going to a restaurant since most will simply add gratuity on for more than 6 to 8 people.
