Retail Job

• Teens can get all kinds of retail jobs in fast food chains, sit-down restaurants, grocery stores and malls. A teen can get a job by going to an area with a lot of stores, walking into each one and asking if they're hiring. Certain stores also post signs in their windows that can help identify places where teens can find jobs. Once hired, the teen needs to work with her boss to develop a schedule that doesn't conflict with other important activities and allows her time for socializing and doing homework.
  
  

Child Care

• Teens who enjoy spending time with children can make money by taking care of other people's kids. This is an especially good summer job because working parents often hire someone to take care of their school-age kids during the summer months when school isn't in session. Teens can also work as babysitters on evenings and weekends during the school year. Find jobs by asking around in the neighborhood, putting up fliers in community areas popular with parents and asking current clients to give your name and phone number to other families they know. Teens can also work in child care by getting a job with a summer camp or after-school program.
  
  

Yard Work

• Teens who are willing to do basic labor can make money by providing yard work services in their neighborhood. Although yard work is in high demand during the summer, when grass grows quickly, teens can do other seasonal tasks during the rest of the year. Leaves need to be raked in the fall, walkways need snow removal in the winter, and weeds need to be pulled in the spring. A teen should ask his neighbors if they need help in their yards, then ask clients to spread the word that he's available to help other families as well.
  
  

One-Time Events

• A teen who is looking to just make a large amount of money all at once can spend a day hosting an event: A garage sale, car wash or bake sale falls within this category. Plan for the event in advance by gathering supplies and getting everything ready so things run smoothly. Place ads in the local newspaper and put up signs around the neighborhood to attract business.
