Types of Eye Discomfort With Contact Lenses
- A common complaint among contact-lens wearers is eye dryness. Refreshing liquid drops or eye drops specifically made for contacts can alleviate this dryness.
- When soft contacts tear, they irritate the eye and rub against the cornea. Sometimes people are unaware of a minor tear in a contact; soft contacts should be checked on a regular basis for such tears.
- When eyes are tired and contacts are left on too long, eye redness may occur. Contacts should be taken out and cleaned if eyes become very red and irritated.
- When foreign particles like dirt or eyelashes cling to contacts, lens wearers may feel a gritty sensation on the cornea. This problem is usually resolved by taking out the lens and cleaning it with contact-lens solution.
- Sometimes, when contacts aren't put on the eye correctly (or if soft contacts are put on inside out), the lenses can cause blurry vision. This can be resolved by thoroughly washing contacts or replacing old contact lenses.
