Removing a Displaced Contact Lens
- 1). Blink your eye several times. Open your eye to see if the lens has repositioned itself to the correct position.
- 2). Look in the opposite direction of where the lens is located. For example, if the lens is displaced to the left corner of your eye, look in a rightward direction. Slowly move your eye to the center and then back to the right. Repeat several times. The gentle movement may help to recenter the lens over your pupil.
- 3). Look at your eye in the mirror and locate the lens. Soft lenses sometimes curl or ball up in the corner of your eye. If this happens, gently grab the lens between your index finger and thumb, and remove it from your eye.
- 4). Close your eye. Place your finger on your closed eyelid and gently nudge the lens back into the correct position. If this doesn't work, proceed to the next step.
- 5). Open your eyelid. Place your finger on the lens and gently nudge it back in position.
- 6). Wait for the lens to work itself loose. Don't worry if it is not possible to dislodge or recover the displaced lens. The lens eventually works itself free in a couple of hours. Chalk it up as a lost lens. The lens will probably drop out of your eye without you noticing it.
