How to Have Fun With Stretching
- 1). Choreograph a stretching routine for yourself. Put together stretches that you enjoy and that feel good for the particular parts of your body that need to be stretched. Make the stretching routine flow from one stretch into the next, sort of like dancing. It can be more interesting to stretch when you feel like you are doing the moves to a dance routine.
- 2). Listen to music as you stretch. Play music that you enjoy and that is appropriate for the ambience you are trying to create. For instance, a pre-workout stretch might inspire you to listen to fast-paced music to get your mind and body in the mood to exercise, whereas an early morning stretch might inspire you to play classical or zen music.
- 3). Stretch with a friend. Performing your stretches with someone else turns stretching into an activity that you can share together. You can set up a time to stretch with each other and even use the time to catch up on each other's lives.
- 4). Stretch in front of the television. If you watch TV while you stretch, you will be less bored because the content on the television will keep you entertained.
- 5). Join a stretching class. See if your local gym or community center offers quick stretching sessions in the mornings or evenings for people who want to stretch as a group or learn new stretches to perform.
- 6). Play a stretching game if you are stretching with children. You can name certain stretching poses after animals, and call out the names of the animals to let kids know which stretch to move into. Another kids game idea for stretching is Simon Says.
