Strategy Guide for "Virtual Villagers 3: The Lost City"

    In the Beginning

    • Plant your first seed, which you'll find near the lift, immediately. It takes a while for the tree to grow, and you'll need this food source to sustain you after your initial supply runs out. Avoid much reproduction at first, as you don't want to grow your population beyond its means. However, always keep at least one child around, because children are the only ones who can collect mushrooms and collectibles. You may also want to hold off assigning a chief. Your chief can't perform tasks like the rest of the tribe members, and you'll want the extra help in the beginning.

    Controlling Your Villagers

    • Place an adult on the lift, beneath the waterfall on the upper-left side of the village, or, when finished, the bath on the lower left. He'll stay at this location for several seconds afterward. This can be helpful when you're trying to round up adults to complete a task. When a villager is carrying an item, if you pick up the villager and move her elsewhere, the item will move back to its original location. This is helpful if you decide you weren't ready for something to be moved yet.

    Sustaining Your Tribe

    • Once you've repaired the lift (which requires three adept builders and restoration tech level 2), you can plant two more trees. According to the Virtual Villagers 3 Official Strategy Guide, with two to three farmers, these three trees will sustain a population of 12 to 15 without stress. Wait until your villagers are able to fish before attempting to grow a larger tribe than that. Also remember that mushrooms are more abundant during rainstorms.
