Digital Marketers Have One More Thing To Avoid: Reported Tweets

The speed at which a person can sit down at their computer, click on to the Internet and then decide whether or not they like something seems to be as fast as a blink.
Marketing to people these days is even more difficult because of how quickly we as people can be distracted or be no longer entertained.
Now, the biggest engine of quick hit media, Twitter, is making it even more difficult for digital marketers to keep a consumers attention without turning them off completely.
Twitter recently released an update that would allow people to "report tweets".
Much like when you report a fake account or someone who is tweeting things you may not like, you can send the information to Twitter in the hopes that the tweet in question may be taken down entirely and not just from your timeline.
When it comes to digital marketing, this can pose problems for marketers who like to take advantage of Twitter as the driver many of their campaigns.
If just one person does not like what you have put out there, or the rate at which you are putting things out there, than you won't be affected by much.
It's when you begin spamming your followers that problems can arise.
Digital marketing, as well as print marketing, rests almost exclusively on getting people to see your campaign.
When you use Twitter, it sometimes takes multiple tries to get your message to stick.
Using these multiple tries can cause followers who are constantly on Twitter to maybe become upset with the rate at which you are putting the same information out.
With what may be a high influx of the same information over and over again, this can cause your followers to want to report your tweets.
If you do encounter the dreaded "reported tweet" because of your content, you could be taken out of the loop of Twitter very, very quickly.
What this all means is that as marketers, you must be vigilant in what you are posting, when you are posting it and how often you are willing to post.
This means instead of posting once an hour with similar material, bump it to twice a day.
Once in the morning when people are getting to work and checking social media and then again later in the day when people have left work and are at home winding down.
There are easy alternatives for digital marketers to avoid getting reported to Twitter, and many of them rest upon just slowing down and waiting.
Your content is important to you and you want it to hold the same weight when you put it out on the Internet for your followers.
You just have to be willing to allow your content to settle, because if you don't, you may have a taller hill to climb later on.
