The present behavior and attitude of some of the settlement companies have prompted many consumers to do a rethink about going for such services in order to eliminate their dues.
However, they can now afford to breathe easy because of the Federal debt relief policies.
Settlement companies have always come to the rescue of defaulters and have successfully taken them out of the problem of dues.
This is one fact that cannot be contested in any way.
But, of late, a change in their attitude could be seen.
They had become quite demanding and the reason for that can be attributed to the fact that everyone went to them in order to solve their financial issues.
This somehow prompted them to think that they were indispensable and thus could get away with anything.
The situation had become more problematic with the arrival of several scam and dubious companies in the market.
All this prompted the government to introduce new FTC debt relief laws, the main intention of which is to protect the consumers from any kind of harassment at the hands of the settlement companies.
The Federal debt relief policies can indeed help consumers in a significant way.
This is because the law involves a lot of restrictions on the part of the settlement companies.
According to the new FTC debt relief laws, a settlement company cannot take advance payments from consumers for their services.
They cannot even demand money in the middle of the deal.
It is only when the consumer has achieved success with respect to total freedom from dues that the company can ask for its charge.
Moreover, the consumer is at full liberty to discontinue with their services at any given point in time and in such a case, it has to return any money if taken by the company.
The consumer cannot be kept in the dark about any detail in connection with the deal.
A look at these new Federal debt relief policies will tell you that the consumers can expect to benefit a lot from it.
After their implementation, they will not face any problem at all in eliminating their burden of dues.
This is because a settlement company will have to pay a fine if they do not follow these guidelines.
The fine is not any meager amount but as much as $16,000.
Therefore, consumers can expect to have a field day.
