You can stop overeating in its tracks when you incorporate these 3 quick tips to stop overeating.
The problem with overeating is that most people try to force themselves to abandon this habit.
This can work for a short period of time but it will return.
The better solution is to learn and practice behavior modifications so new habits can naturally form.
Tips #1: Eat from your true hunger level not external cues.
It is common to eat because of external factors such as the clock on the wall says it is lunchtime or others are eating so you feel obliged to join them.
The problem with this is that when we eat because of what is going on around us we rarely pay attention to how hungry we actually are.
Practice this tip, rate your hunger before every meal or snack for the next 2 weeks.
To do this simply create a scale from 0 to 10 with "0" meaning you are starving and "10" meaning you are stuffed and ask yourself how hungry you are.
If you are not below a 4 you can physically wait to eat and this allows you to make better eating decisions.
Tip #2Eat mindfully.
Practice this behavior modification tip for the next two weeks.
Eat mindfully by taking one bite of food, chewing it completely and then swallowing everything in your mouth.
This forces you to pay attention to what you are eating and how much you are enjoying it and it also slows you down.
As you practice this you will naturally eat slower and more mindfully and break up your old overeating pattern.
Tip #3 Disrupt your eating before it turns into overeating.
When you learn to rate your hunger you will see a point when you know you have eaten enough food to be satisfied.
The problem is that sometimes you will still feel compelled to continue eating past the point of being full.
You can stop overeating in its tracks by disrupting your eating.
Try sticking a piece of gum in your mouth or brushing your teeth, these things are incompatible with eating and will allow you to separate from eating long enough to allow the desire to continue eating to fade.
Use these 3 quick tips to stop overeating in its tracks and naturally eat less and lose weight.
