Cinderella-Themed Birthday Ideas
- Decorate your invitations by writing them on a piece of scrapbook paper that looks like an old scroll. Roll the scroll up and place inside a toilet paper or paper towel roll. Wrap the rolls with Cinderella wrapping paper or princess-type birthday wrap. Tie each end with a piece of ribbon and then address and mail to your guests. Next, purchase crepe paper in pink, lavender and white. Use it to decorate your house for the party. Purchase matching Cinderella paper plates, napkins, cups and tablecloth for the food table. You may also want to throw some craft jewels over the food table to make it look like a table you would find in a palace. Choose one chair to be the throne and decorate it with a white sheet and a large pink bow. You can also use ribbon if you have it. Finally, you will want to tie some helium balloons around the house and on the mailbox. Try to stick with the pink, white and lavender colors.
- Create a station where children can put makeup on each other. Also have crowns or tiaras at this station so that they can feel like a princess when they are done. Next, have the girls play a glass slipper game. It is really a form of the game Hot Potato. The girls should sit in a circle. Give one of the girls a high-heel shoe that has been spray painted silver. Say "go" and have them pass the slipper around until you ring a bell to signify that it is midnight. The girl with the glass shoe is then out. Repeat this until you have only two girls left. The one who doesn't have the shoe at the end wins. You may still want to give all the girls a small prize for playing.
Another activity the girls can participate in is a ball. You may want to ask the girls to wear fancy dresses to the party so that they can twirl their dresses around while they are dancing. Play the soundtrack from the movie "Cinderella" and have the girls practice their ballroom dancing. Every so often you can ring a bell. When that happens, the girls must freeze. You can play this until the soundtrack ends or the girls get bored. - Create magic wands as snacks for the girls. Take 18 pretzel rods and dip them in melted vanilla icing. Roll them in rainbow sprinkles, and set them on a sheet of wax paper. Place in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Next, purchase a small pumpkin and clean it out. Wash it completely and fill it with ranch or vegetable dip. Place the small pumpkin in the middle of a platter and surround it with fresh veggies for dipping. Of course, every party needs a cake. You can hire a caterer to make a Cinderella cake, or you can make a sheet cake and decorate it with beautiful flowers. Then place a tiara in the middle of the cake for decoration.
If you plan on serving lunch, make finger sandwiches. Use bologna and cheese since this is a favorite for most kids. Then serve sparkling cider in fancy glasses. Have the girls make a toast to the birthday girl. This can be done before you serve the food.
