Ideas for Handmade Birthday Cards
- 1). Create a design on the front of the card. A homemade birthday card does not have to be elaborate. The fact that you are hand making a card for someone shows the individual just how much you care. Choose a simple design, perhaps a birthday cake or ice cream sundae and gather all the material necessary to create a design. Practice the layout before gluing it down onto the paper.
- 2). Draw or paint a special picture. Choose something shared by you and the individual celebrating the birthday. Select something that your loved one enjoys, perhaps favorite flowers, a vacation they took or a popular sports team.
- 3). Use a photo to enhance the card. Search through old photographs. Select one of a special memory the two of you share. This can be used on the front of the card and then embellished with ribbon, glitter or special paper. Another idea is cutting the photo and only using your pictures in a design on the front of the card.
- 4). Purchase a card making kit from a local craft store. Typically, this kit includes paper, die-cuts, glue and other goodies used in making homemade cards. Assembly of the cards is still required, but the kit can save a little time and supply individuals with ideas. The kit can serve as a starting point for making cards, but individuals can always add more designs and trinkets to make their cards special.
- 5). Write a special poem or message. No card is complete without a message inside the card. A few ideas for an inside message include: words of wisdom, a special poem or recalling a shared memory or favorite time together. Most importantly, don't forget to wish them "Happy birthday."
