Laser treatment is only around 30 years old and has been gaining popularity as a method to treat tinnitus.
People that supply this treatment believe that it can be very successful but there have been no rigorous trails from independent sources as yet.
The premise behind the treatment is that a certain frequency of light radiation can be aimed at the ear using a laser.
This radiation is in the red to infrared spectrum.
When aimed at the ear, it is believed that help regenerate the cells.
So if the ear cells have been damaged in some way, through excessive levels of noise, infections and illness through drug medication, sinus problems or Meniere's disease, the laser can actively help to heal the ear.
The treatment generally involves directing the laser into the ear and can last for up to 60 minutes.
A complete program of treatment will comprise of 10 to 15 sessions of 60 minutes.
This is thought to be enough time to stimulate the cells and regenerate or repair any cells that may be contributing to the tinnitus symptoms.
The treatment is said not to be uncomfortable or painful in any way.
This is still a fairly new treatment and only a few people will provide this service.
To this extent most people prefer to try all other options before trying this approach.
