How to Get Dreads Tight at the Roots
- 1). Wash your hair with a residue-free shampoo to provide needed friction for rubbing the roots together effectively.
- 2). Allow hair to dry completely before root tightening.
- 3). Apply small rubber bands firmly but not too tightly at the root of a single dreadlock to hold the hair together securely.
- 4). Use your forefinger and thumb to rub the hair at the root of a single dreadlock in a continuous clockwise direction.
- 5). Continue to rub the hair in this manner for several minutes until puffy knots begin to form.
- 6). Apply a small, dime-size or smaller drop of hair wax to the knot and palm roll to tighten the dread at the root. Continue the process on each dreadlock over the entire head.
