Design and Major Functions

• The Avaya 9620C and the Avaya 9620L are designed as high-end phones that can be used in busy workplace settings, with functions and features such as voice command, speech-based dialing and conference calling. Although primarily designed as phones for setting on top of a table, they are also wall-mountable. Each Avaya 9620C and Avaya 9620L phone has a black finish, with black and white buttons.
  
  

Buttons and Screen Display

• The buttons or controls of the Avaya 9620C and the Avaya 9620L include "Volume," "Avaya Menu" and "Contacts" buttons, and light-emitting diode buttons such as "Mute," "Speaker," "Headset," "Message" and "Call Log." The white buttons consist of the number pad, a four-way navigation cluster button and four contextual softkey buttons. The 9620L has a backlit gray-scale screen with a display quality of 320 by 240 pixels in resolution. Although the 9620C has a smaller screen than the 9620L, it has a color display with 640 by 480 pixels in resolution.
  
  

External Interfaces

• An Ethernet connection, with accompanying RJ-45 jack, provides wired networking at a peak data transfer speed of 100 megabits per second. An audio jack, providing mono sound, is included for a headset. Avaya adds a USB port on the 9620C for storing phone contacts on a memory stick.
  
  

Software Capabilities and System Requirements

• Each Avaya 9620C and Avaya 9620L can store up to 250 phone contacts and support characters from more than a dozen languages and dialects such as English, Canadian French and Parisian French, Latin American Spanish and Castilian Spanish, Simplified Chinese and Korean. Added on the 9620C are the H.323 and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) standards for controlling voice and video calls. Each phone is compatible with features of the Avaya Aura Communication Manager IP telephony platform for functions such as one-touch dialing and recent call access from call logs, although the 9620C is compatible with versions as old as 3.0; the 9620L can only stretch to as far back as 3.1.
