How to Size Support Hose
- 1). Ask your physician for the correct compression for your condition. Some higher-level compression stockings (above 20 mmhg) are available by prescription only.
- 2). Measure the circumference of your ankle in inches. Measure all the way around your ankle in a circle, at the smallest part. This will probably be just above the talus (the ankle bone).
- 3). Measure your thigh's circumference, around the fullest part.
- 4). Measure the circumference around your calf around the fullest part.
- 5). Measure the circumference around your hips at the fullest part.
- 6). Check the sizing chart for your brand. If your measurements fit to more than one size, choose the size that most closely fits your ankle measurement because it is the most important fit when it comes to compression stockings.
