If you listen to good players or to Golf Playing Professionals when they give interviews then they all tell you the same.
They all keep records of their game and individual practice sessions with and without their Teaching Pro.
They do it because they know that they cannot have their Teaching Pro on their side every day to help them if they do not hit the ball or play as well as they want to.
On the course you are on your own and that is what separates the best players from the good ones.
The best have found a way to help themselves in every situation they face.
Keeping records of swing thoughts etc.
helps them to face problems in their game and solve it right away.
And you know what? Golf is a game full of problems.
Every shot can face you with a problem that you once have solved and then it is nice to have it written down how you have done it and maybe what you have thought.
It is even good to write down what has not helped.
Then you do not need to try it again that way if you have forgotten that you tried it this way.
The one who writes lasts as an old saying tells us.
What does that mean for the rest of us? Everybody who plays golf and is interested in a certain progress should keep records of every round of golf and every practice session there was.
That will help to remind yourself or have the chance to do so if your are uncertain about e.
g.
your swing thought for the day before the next round with your buddies or tournament round or even your next practice session.
"my5rules" for your trainings book:
  1. What did I practice?
  2. How long did I do it and when did I do it?
  3. How did it feel like?
  4. Which thoughts where coming into my mind when I did it?
  5. What will I do different the next time?
Do not be afraid of the start.
For the first time you can just write down what you did practice.
Sooner or later you will start to fill in more details about your golf or what you have done today on the course or practice tee.
Really important is that you secure good things that have done well or the feelings you had and how the new move in your swing felt like.
That will help you to improve every time you go on the golf course.
Write in drills you have completed or practice sessions you really liked or felt that they had a great influence on your performance the other day.
As I said earlier on.
Even write down if something did not work out the way you planned.
Even that will help you to get faster on the improvement track.
Really good Teaching Pros offer their students something like this after every lesson.
This will help the students to rethink what have been done in the lesson before his next lesson or round of golf.
That is the way to improve.
You will be amazed if you start to keep records how fast you will improve and will wonder why you did not use such a book before.
Ask your pro to offer you something like this or make it on your own.
Enjoy your Golf! Fabian
