Prescription Ear Cleaners

• Prescription ear cleaners such as Cerumene Ear Cleaning Liquid should only be used once or twice a month to prevent earwax accumulation.
  
  

Non-Prescription Ear Cleaner

• Auror-UM Ear Cleaner has a special applicator which makes it easy to use on cats and can be used daily or weekly to remove excess wax. Ear Clens® Pads for Cats contain an antibacterial and antifungal cleaner. These are pre-moistened pads that can be used up to three times a day if necessary.
  
  

Homemade Ear Cleaner

• Use a mixture of one part water to one part hydrogen peroxide for weekly cleaning of your cat's ears.
  
  

How to Clean Cat's Ears

• Place a few drops of the ear cleaning solution into your cat's ear. Gently massage at the base of the ear to loosen wax and debris; remove loosened wax and debris with a cotton ball. Never use Q-tips or probe deeply into your cat's ear.
  
  

Ear Mites

• Ear mites cause crumbly dirt colored discharge. Specific medication such as Tresaderm is necessary to kill the mites.
