Tre Anelli Winery
Few, if any other wineries in Santa Barbara county produce wines made from Spanish or Italian varietals, but that is the focus of Tre Anelli.
The winery currently produces 7 total wines, with two white wines which are Pinot Grigio's and five red wine selections which include household names such as Grenache and Tempranillo as well as lesser known varietals such as Sangiovese.
This is a small production winery making less than five thousands total cases of wine spread across all varietals so it isn't something which you are likely to find in a grocery store, wine store on the other side of the United States or even at your neighbor's house.
My personal favorite wine being produced by Tre Anelli (three rings in Italian for those whom are interested) is their Sangiovese.
Priced at a reasonable $32 for the area it is produced in the eastern end of Santa Ynez Valley which has warm days, cool nights and gives the fruit an abundance of complex flavors.
Total production for the Sangiovese sits at seven hundred thirty five cases which is not so small that it makes it impossible to find, but no so large that it appears everywhere.
I enjoy the wine with Prosciutto as well as any pasta with red sauce.
As with any red wine it can also be paired quite easily with steak as well as lamb and any other game meat which you might find.
Interestingly, because of the higher than normal acidity it can also be paired with some fish dishes as well as any heavy cheese.
