How to Fix a Sagging Refrigerator Door With a Top Freezer
- 1). Look on the top right side of the freezer, and find the hinge. If there is a plastic cover concealing the hinge pin, pry it off with a screwdriver or just use your fingers.
- 2). Loosen the hinge bolt by turning it counterclockwise with either a socket wrench or a nut driver. Turn the bolt just enough so you can move the freezer door slightly, do not remove the hinge pin. The freezer door and refrigerator door are connected on this type of refrigerator, so you must loosen the freezer hinge pin in addition to the refrigerator door hinge pin.
- 3). Locate the hinge at the bottom of the refrigerator door. Loosen the bolt slightly with your socket wrench.
- 4). Open the freezer door, and pull it all the way open so that it is out of the way. Place a level on top of the refrigerator door. Have a friend slowly lift the refrigerator door while you keep an eye on the level. Once the door is level, have your assistant hold it in that spot until you can tighten the hinge bolts.
- 5). Tighten the hinge bolt back down on top of the freezer, then tighten the hinge bolt at the bottom of the refrigerator door.
- 6). Put the hinge cover back on top of the freezer door hinge. Push the hinge cover straight down until it pops back into place.
