This story could be used in a foster or adoptive situation as the end message is that we are loved and needed by others, even through our changes.

Illustrations

"A Simple Brown Leaf" is illustrated by Lisa Victoria who holds an MFA in illustration from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.

The illustrations are colorful and detailed. The changes of color from season to season are brought to life beautifully through the artwork of the book. About the Author

L.J. Davis resides in San Diego with her husband and two daughters. "A Simple Brown Leaf" is her first children's book. The idea for the book came to her while walking her daughters to school one day. She noticed a leaf and it struck her how short of a life span a leaf has. Over the course of two years she worked on the story as she tried to figure out what the leaf wanted to say. The final message - every living creature has a purpose.

Final Thoughts and Information

"A Simple Brown Leaf" is an awesome choice for a foster or adoptive parent to read to his/her child.

What better message to send to a child who has been through a traumatic event than how life may change you, but you still can be strong and have great purpose in life. Many lessons can be drawn from this story as it could easily be adapted to many different life situations.

"A Simple Brown Leaf" is recommended for children ages 4-8.
