GE Refrigerator Freezer Is Icing Up With a Whirring Noise

    • 1). Clear out the freezer.

    • 2). Unplug the freezer and allow all ice buildup to melt.

    • 3). Remove the plastic plugs at the back of the freezer with a flathead screwdriver.

    • 4). Remove the screws from behind the plastic plugs using a screwdriver.

    • 5). Pull the cover out of the freezer.

    • 6). Remove the screws from the fan cover and remove the cover.

    • 7). Remove the screws from the fan and remove it from the back of the freezer. Unplug the wire connectors before tugging the fan out.

    • 8). Plug in the new fan and attach it and the fan cover to the back wall of the freezer with the screws. Replace the back cover and screw it tight.

    • 9). Plug in the freezer and test normal operation.
