Preparation

• Begin each morning with a proper face cleansing ritual. Bare Minerals makeup will last longer on clean skin, free of makeup, dirt and oil. Cleanse your face thoroughly, paying particular attention to the forehead, nose and chin, where oil most often accumulates. Rinse your face well after cleansing to avoid irritation from remaining cleanser.
  Moisturize your face with a high-quality moisturizer that will absorb into your skin. A moisturizer that doesn't absorb sits on top of your skin, causing uneven makeup application, and will cause makeup to rub off easily during the day. If you are prone to oily skin, use an oil-free moisturizer or oil-controlling moisturizer.
  
  

Prime

• Even out your complexion and achieve a smooth flawless surface by using a makeup primer. Bare Escentuals sells an excellent all-over face primer called Prime Time which you can buy online or in stores. Primers create a layer on your skin which allows the Bare Minerals to adhere for lasting power throughout the day. They also serve as a barrier to oil and sweat. You can use primers on the eyelids as well. Eye shadow colors glide on effortlessly and evenly for beautiful eyes that will last all day.
  
  

Brushes

• Applying Bare Minerals with Bare Escentuals brushes will ensure full and even makeup distribution. These brushes were specially designed to be used with Bare Minerals. Soft, dense bristles allow the brush to hold the minerals and deposit them on your skin evenly. Use the brush to buff the minerals into your skin, not just creating a layer on top. Other makeup brushes may just leave a thin layer on your skin which quickly wears off.
  
  

Finish

• The final step in the Bare Minerals system is Mineral Veil. Be sure to sweep Mineral Veil all over your face to set your foundation and provide a lasting finish. Omitting the step will cause your makeup to rub off or wear off prematurely. Mineral Veil is a translucent mineral powder which provides a smooth, almost airbrushed appearance. Finishing your look properly will ensure your makeup stays beautiful from dawn until dusk.
