Operating Instructions for a Craftsman 4-Cylinder Weed Trimmer
- 1). Put on your safety equipment and make sure you are wearing long pants and a long sleeve shirt, which will prevent debris from cutting your skin. Set the engine onto a flat area of ground. Press and release the primer bulb 10 times or until you see gas flowing into the primer bulb and fuel lines.
- 2). Place your left hand on the shaft beside the rear handle, but don't put your hand on the trigger. Grasp the starter rope with your right hand. Pull on the starter rope using a controlled and steady motion five times, or until the engine starts.
- 3). Squeeze the throttle trigger for 30 seconds after the engine starts. If the engine dies while you're squeezing the throttle, repeat pulling on the starter rope until the engine starts again. Don't pull too hard on the rope. Move the "On/Off" switch to the "Off" setting when you're finished trimming.
- 4). Grab the front handle with your left hand and wrap your thumb and forefinger around the handle. Grab the rear handle with your right hand and wrap your thumb around the shaft. Squeeze the trigger with your right index finger. Hold the unit at waist level; bend your right elbow slightly while keeping your left arm straight.
- 5). Hold the cutting head parallel to the ground. Squeeze the trigger fully to trim weeds and grasses. Trim tall grasses from the top down. Work from right to left so all objects get thrown away from you.
