How to Create a Fan Mohawk

    • 1). Comb through the Mohawk to remove any tangles. Longer hair is more susceptible to tangles than shorter hair.

    • 2). Rub a heat-protection serum through your Mohawk according to label instructions. The serum keeps hair from burning and assists in controlling unruly flyaway strands. Working in sections, apply a flat-iron to the Mohawk and pull upward. This will not make your 'hawk stand up straight, but it will remove any natural curls or waves in your hair.

    • 3). Squeeze white glue onto a paper plate. Using both hands, dip them into the glue and apply it to the back of your Mohawk. Work from the roots of the hair upward, pressing your hands together to straighten the 'hawk. You can also use the comb to help pull the hair from the roots upward. Do not apply glue all the way to the tips of your hair; you want to stop 1 to 2 inches from the tip it fans at the top. Shorter 'hawks will only want 1 inch of fan, while longer 'hawks can have up to 2 inches of fan.

    • 4). Turn the hairdryer on medium heat and use the comb to pull upward as you focus the heat on the glued hair. Work from back to front, standing the Mohawk up as you go.

    • 5). Spray with a heavy-hold hairspray to keep the fan Mohawk in place.
