Air Compressor and Off-Roading

Off-roading is serious business.
You cannot joke around when your favorite pastime includes driving a souped-up Wrangler Jeep over piles of uneven rock, rough terrain and 65-degree inclines.
The only thing that you can be certain about in this type of hobby is that your tires will blow out, your rims will bend and vehicles can roll.
Now, everybody knows that you can't have service shops in the middle of the terrain, like in the Australian outback or Utah desert, which makes off-roading all the more risky.
It is thus important that you travel with your own extensive tools and equipment whenever you go off the road.
One of the most essential tool that an off-roader should have is a 12v air compressor.
It's a very significant tool in the 4x4 lover's arsenal.
12-volt types are small electric motors that compress air and pumps it out as pressurized air.
The pressure, or the power that drives a compressor, is measured in pounds per square inch or psi.
Common household or non-industrial powered compressors (like the 12v air compressor types) can produce compressed air between 100 and 200 psi.
Another measurement used in measuring compressed air is cubic feet per minute or (cfm).
This measures the amount of air the compressor can displace in a minute.
Most 12v compressors used for the off road are powered via the vehicle's 12-volt power supply or the cigarette lighter socket.
You can have the option to permanently mount the compressor in the motor of your vehicle or you can have it kept in a portable toolbox.
If you want more power from your compressor, you can modify an engine-mounted air conditioner to pump compressed air and work as a regular air compressor.
12v compressors can be used in off-roading for different purposes but the most common is inflating tires.
Using a hose, the compressor can be attached to a tire pressure gauge to ensure that you are not inflating your tires too much or too less.
You can also use air compressors to reseat tires that have slipped off the rims.
If you are a serious off-roader, then you cannot travel without your pneumatic tools like impact wrench, ratchet wrench or screwdrivers powered by compressed air, thus air compressors).
There are also power lockers which instantly lock the differential on all four ties, thereby creating intense traction over extreme terrain.
And if you're planning to take your family in your next off-road adventure, 12v air compressors are also perfect for inflating camping equipments, river rafts and other inflatable toys.
