    Invitations

    • Make your own invitations using images from the birthday celebrant's favorite Star Wars scene or use black cardstock or construction paper to create your own. Add glitter or small white clusters, then print out your text. Set the font up to resemble the Star Wars films by having the words appear to be closer (and larger) on the bottom. Tell the story of your child, or whomever the birthday celebrant is. For example, "In a galaxy far far away, there was a child born on (birthday). The Jedi Council knew he (or she) was the chosen one, and they named him/her Kris." Insert the name and gender of the birthday celebrant where necessary. Call all of the Jedi knights-in-training to meet at the Jedi Council on the day and at the time of your party. Have them confirm by phone or email. Close the invitation with the famous line, "May the Force be with you."

    Decorations

    • Decorate your home with Star Wars posters, cutouts and toys for the party. Make planets to hang from the ceiling out of Styrofoam balls or different sized balls. You can cover them in paint or aluminum foil. Hang glow-in-the-dark balls or sticks around the room and add glow-in-the-dark stars. Those effects will pay off well for a nighttime party or sleepover where you can show the films while everyone munches on popcorn and other snacks. Use the cake as a decoration by creating a Star Wars themed cake.

    Games

    • Create a Star Wars version of pin the tail on the donkey by using a poster of Darth Maul and having the guests pin the light saber on Darth Maul. Make the light sabers out of construction paper.

Put confetti in a clear balloon, then blow it up and tie it. Arrange chairs or have guests sit in a circle and pass the balloon around, calling it the Death Star. An adult should control the music, which should be the Star Wars theme song, with his back turned away from the guests. This would be like the classic "hot potato" game.

Let the children play tag by calling it "Jedi versus Siths" or "Sith Hunt." Assign one child to be the Jedi and tag as many Siths as she can until they are all safely constrained in "Sith Jail."

Crafts and simple activities may provide the perfect activity to keep younger guests entertained and happy. Have children decorate paper plates with glitter, glue and markers to make their home planet or ship. Paint each child's face differently until you have a room full of "aliens." Wrap up various party gifts or smaller balls in aluminum foil and hide them around the house or yard. Have the children hunt for the "asteroids."

    Favors

    • Send each party guest home with a Star Wars favor bag. The contents will depend on your budget, creativity and the age of the guests. Star Wars posters, stickers, gummy candy, flash lights, bouncy balls, light sabers or glow-in-the-dark necklaces would be fitting.
