How to Brew Green Beer

    • 1). Brew your pale ale wort. Once the 60-minute boil is complete, transfer the chilled wort to the carboy. Dilute to 5 gallons with water.

    • 2). Place the funnel into the carboy and add the yeast. Remove the funnel and use the spoon to aerate the wort for two to three minutes.

    • 3). Top the carboy with an airlock and place the carboy in a cool, dry place for 7 to 10 days as the yeast ferments the wort, making it beer.

    • 4). Remove the airlock and add 5 oz. of blue food coloring. Gently stir the beer with a spoon. If the beer isn't green enough, add more food coloring in 2- to 3-oz. increments. Once at the desired color, replace the airlock.

    • 5). Bottle or keg the beer 5 to 10 days after adding the food coloring.
