"Space Ghost: Coast to Coast" Volume 2 DVD Review
About.com Rating
The Bottom Line
Die hard fans of "Space Ghost" will love "Space Ghost: Coast to Coast" Volume 2. The offbeat humor of "Space Ghost" is captured not only in the episodes, but also in the packaging and the menus. Sometimes the guests are in on the joke, and sometimes they're not. But so-so fans might want to pass. The episodes might be worth a rental fee for these fans, but not the price to buy.

Guide Review - "Space Ghost: Coast to Coast" Volume 2 DVD Review
Wow, is this crazy. "Space Ghost" isn't as crazy as "Aqua Teen Hunger Force," but it's out there. And it's fun.
The episodes on "Space Ghost: Coast to Coast" Volume 2 are unique and hilarious. The guests are skewered and celebrated at the same time. I especially like the interviews with Carrot Top, Elvira and Susan Olsen. Those two are kind of in on the joke, yet Space Ghost still manages to make them the punchline a time or two.
The menus are as bizarre as the show itself. The icons make no sense, and there are no titles.
The extras are enjoyable. I especially like the "raw" interview with Matt Groening. He definitely "gets" the show and plays up the odd angle of its humor.
The commentary is occasionally enlightening, but mainly as funny as the show itself. True fans will dig the talk behind the episodes.
I wish there were more extras, and sometimes I wish the show wasn't so weird. In one episode, there's almost no dialogue. The station comes under attack, and suddenly it's an entire episode of loud, scratchy rock music. That one was a little annoying to me since I paid for the DVD set.
Other than that, since I love "Space Ghost," I loved this DVD set. But if you're not a true fan, the show isn't like "The Simpsons" or "King of the Hill," which just about everyone can relate to and laugh at. You have to love this odd humor, and the silence in between the jokes, to love this DVD set.
