Pet Skin Care for Cats

104 9

    Identification

    • The first step in caring for your cat's skin is recognizing when there is a problem. Common symptoms of skin disorder in cats include flaky skin, irritated and red skin, and hair loss or scaly lesions on the skin.

    Significance

    • If you think your cat has a skin disease, take him to your veterinarian. Your vet will examine the problem areas and may take a biopsy or blood sample to diagnose the issue further.

    Prevention/Solution

    • Treatment will depend on the cause of the skin problem. In some cases, your veterinarian may prescribe antibiotic creams. If the skin problem is a skin allergy, you may have to remove all allergens from your home before your cat recovers.
