How to Troubleshoot the Ice Maker on a Whirlpool EB21DK
- 1). Allow the freezer to cool completely before ice production begins. A newly installed refrigerator may take 12 hours to cool down to the correct temperature.
- 2). Move the signal arm from the "Off" position. Push the arm down to place it in the "On" position. The signal arm is located on the ice maker and hovers over the ice bin.
- 3). Turn the water shutoff valve counterclockwise to turn the water supply on fully. The water shutoff valve is located on the water line in the home that is closest to the refrigerator.
- 4). Inspect the water line. Remove kinks. If water is visible on the water line, the line is leaking. If only a small amount of water enters the ice maker or water does not enter the ice maker at all, the water line is clogged. Remove the water line and install a new one.
- 5). Rotate the dial or lever located on the side of the ice maker to change the size of the ice cubes produced if cubes are smaller or larger than desired. Change the size of the cubes, as desired. This is a feature on the ice maker and is not a malfunction.
- 6). Shake the ice bin to evenly distribute ice cubes and resume production if ice is piled beneath the signal arm.
- 7). Discard several batches of ice produced after installation, as the ice may be discolored or have an unpleasant taste.
