Arts & Crafts Shows in Northwestern Michigan
- The Annual Reeds Lake Art Festival in East Grand Rapids, begun in 1965, is held on a Saturday each June from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are often more than 100 artists displaying and selling their work at this juried art fair put on by the Grand Valley Artists. There is always a fine selection of paintings, sculpture, photography, pottery and more. Public parking is located in the ramp near the Regatta Plaza.
- The city of Charlevoix holds its annual Summer Solstice Art Show, started in 1998, in downtown Charlevoix at East Park on a weekend in June. The event is open to the public on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The East Park houses paintings, sculpture, photography and pottery from 75 artists for this two-day event. Many artists will be working at their craft during the festival and all will be available to answer your questions.
- In 1950 the Art Center of Traverse City held the first of what was to become the annual Outdoor Art Fair on a Saturday in July. Set on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College, there are more than 100 artists represented. Paintings, pottery, sculpture, leather work, drawings, collage and much more are on exhibit in this juried show.
- Shelby Township holds its annual Art Fair, started in 1983, at the Shelby Township Municipal Grounds on a weekend in August. The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days, giving visitors lots of time to view the painting, sculpture, photography, crafts and photography of more than 100 exhibitors. This juried show features work from artists around the U.S. and Canada. The festival includes a "Kids Craft and Activity Area."
