How to Remove Links From a Gruen Band
- 1). Place the watch on your wrist and pinch the band together with your other hand to decide how many links will need to be removed. The watch should feel snug without pinching the skin. Remove the watch from your wrist.
- 2). Locate the removable links in the watch. Typically, the links that can be removed on a Gruen watch are closer to the clasp, not the face of the watch. A removable link has a tiny hole in the underside of the link.
- 3). Push the tip of the hole punch into the hole on the back of the link. Push firmly until you see a small metal piece, called the link bar, come out the other side.
- 4). Pull the link bar out of the opposite side using the pliers. Repeat the process on the number of links you want to remove.
- 5). Put the band back together by joining the links that remain on the watch. Once links are joined, push in the link bar using the small hole punch. Make sure the link bar is completely pushed in so it does not stick out of the link. Save the removed links and link bars in case you need to readjust the watch band later.
