Silly String: Changing What Might Have Been
Do you ever think about modern day inventions being used is ages past?We have many, many things that the people of olden days could have used.
Think especially of the technology that would have changed much of history as we know it.
But, all the fancy technology like ipods and video phones, and commercial airlines, what about some of the small things?Things that people take for granted much of the time.
There are things like Velcro, or Gorilla Glue.
What about the fun things like silly string?The military originally developed this for detecting bombs, but now we use it for laughs and giggles.
Just imagine the scenario: Here comes Cinderella skipping down the stairs, she is bedraggled and worn.
She has been working non stop all the day long and knows that once again she will be taken advantage of.
Her evil stepmother gives her yet another list of chores to begin working on.
Her evil stepsisters are angry with her and want her to get in trouble as much as possible.
They don't want her to have anything nice, they want everything for themselves.
She is ordered to get all of their things ready for the great ball that is happening on that night.
But wait, this time things are different.
Cinderella is ready for them.
She has gone to the market and purchased a can of silly string with the few pennies she has managed to save after scrimping for many months.
As her step family comes around the corner, she opens the can of silly string and sprays for all she is worth.
Who knows how things might have turned out then?Everyone knows that you can't help laughing when silly string is going everywhere.
Maybe the stepsisters would have started laughing and decided that she really wasn't so bad after all.
Her stepmother would see the girls all getting along, and decide to allow Cinderella to go to the ball with her family as it should be.
Then, the prince would see Cinderella for who she really was and fall in love with her as a person and not her dress.
They would still all live happily ever after.
Modern times have shown us countless wonders that no one of the ancient times would have dreamed about.
They have all taken their place as valuable additions to our busy lives.
Many things may have been very different had these useful things been invented long ago.
Not only that, but we as people of modern times may have experienced things much differently in our own times if this had been the case.
