Tips for Piecing on the Bias With Triangles

103 52
Right angle triangles are a versatile shape for patchwork quilts.
They can be used alone or in conjunction with squares or rectangles.
They can be used to make hundreds of patterns.
Pieces that are more likely to stretch out of shape (like triangles) are better off cut on the bias.
Perfecting this technique can help perfect your patchwork skills taking you to the next level of quilting.
The most important point to remember is to make sure the bias edge or edges face toward the inside of the block.
The edges that are cut on the grain should end up on the outside of the block.
This will keep the stretching of the fabric to a minimum and help the stability of your quilt.
So when you place your templates on your fabric make sure to keep this tip in mind.
When you are sewing the pieces together, instead of stopping after each triangle and clipping the threads, just keep placing the triangles under the presser foot and continue.
When you are finished just clip the threads in between each triangle.
This will save time.
When you press the squares open, make sure to press the seam toward the darker fabric.
You can stitch the squares into rows or many other possibilities to make dozens of projects.
