This is to ensure that you are able to clean out your system so that when you do add foods to your diet that are known triggers for migraines, you will be able to work from a controlled environment.

    • 2). There are quite a few nutritional triggers that have been associated with migraines. Alcohol, caffeine (in drinks or chocolate), nuts, and cheese (or other dairy products) are commonly attributed to triggering migraines. Some fruits that you also want to avoid initially are citrus fruits, apples, and bananas. Vegetables to keep away from include onions, corn, raw lettuce, celery, cabbage, tomatoes and radishes. The other foods to steer clear of at first are wheat, meat and eggs.

    • 3). Return to your normal diet for the most part after the first week of nutritional cleansing, making sure that you do not ingest the foods listed as foods to avoid. Add one type of food that can be a trigger back in weekly to your diet after this to see which ones bring on a migraine for you. If you get a migraine, take out that specific food again and start adding in the other avoided foods, one a week again, but keeping that food out that is a trigger for you during the process. By the end of this time, you should be able to recognize which foods you need to stay away from to stave off your migraines.
