    • 1). Turn off your Krups coffeemaker.

    • 2). Remove the water filter for your Krups coffeemaker if it is a model with built-in filtration. Throw away the used filter.

    • 3). Add a mixture of descaling solution and water to your coffeemaker's water reservoir or tank. Follow the instructions on your descaling product bottle to achieve the right blend of product and water. Krups recommends that you use only their descaling solution.

    • 4). Put the smaller pod holders for your Krup coffeemaker in the machine.

    • 5). Place a container capable of holding 40 oz. of liquid on the drip tray of your Krups coffeemaker to collect the descaling solution mixture as it drips out.

    • 6). Hold down the brew button on the machine for at least 5 seconds. This starts the solution circulating through the machine. When the process is done, the cycle stops and your indicator light will go off.

    • 7). Run two separate brewing cycles on the 9-oz. setting on your Krups coffeemaker after descaling to fully remove the solution from your machine.

    • 8). Rinse the reservoir or tank for your coffee water before brewing your next cup of coffee by running an additional brewing cycle of plain water through the system if your water tank does not detach. If you own a Krups model with a detachable water tank, detach the tank and rinse water through the reservoir at the sink.
