How to Block Incoming Cell Phone Numbers
- 1). Contact both your cell phone service provider and landline company to activate the "Number Filter" or "Block Calls" feature. This feature prevents all unwanted callers from reaching your phone. The company will ask you for specific cell phone numbers that you do not want calling on your phone. These numbers will then be added to a block list specific to your phone number.
- 2). Register both your cell phone and landline numbers for the National Do Not Call Registry. Click the link in Resources to add your number to this list. The National Do not Call Registry prohibits telemarketers from calling your number. Once you register your number here, most telemarketers will not be able to call you 31 days after registration. If you still receive the call, you can file a complaint at the website.
- 3). Set your cell phone settings to automatically forward unanswered calls. Some landline sets also provide the feature of forwarding calls internally. If your phone does not have the feature, call your service provider and ask it to activate the call forwarding feature. The company will then provide you with an activation code. Enter this code along with the phone number that you want to receive the unanswered calls on. Press "Send," wait for confirmation signal and select "End." Answer the cell phone calls that you want to and ignore the ones you are not interested in answering. Forward the latter to the other number.
