How to Swing a Golf Driver

    • 1). Get a grip, literally. Hold the driver in your left hand, with the shaft barely touching your palm. Make sure the pinkie is at the top of the club.

    • 2). Adjust your posture by putting your feet at about shoulder-width. Bend your knees a little bit. The head should be raised at first. Use your hips to lean forward so the driver will slightly touch the ground just behind the golf ball.

    • 3). Keep your eyes on the driver during the back swing. During this part of the swing a person needs to focus on keeping his arms and club straight while rotating his body. The left knee should bend in toward the right knee. This will allow your body weight to move toward your back foot, which will allow you to have more power as you drive.

    • 4). Make a conscious effort to maintain the direction the club is moving. When the drive hits the ball, the shoulders of the golfer should be parallel to the ball. Watch the center of the ball to keep the focus on the direction of the club.

    • 5). After hitting the ball with the driver, slightly turn your wrists and bend your elbows. Doing this will cause the head of the club to end up behind your left shoulder.

    • 6). Keep practicing. Perfecting how you swing a golf driver is a life-long pursuit, not something that will happen in a day, week, month or year.
